The South Tyrol Jazz Festival keeps on growing. This year for the first time the Vinschgau valley/Val Venosta will take its place as one of the many special concert venues throughout the province which altogether will stage almost 100 performances. But the festival is not about breaking records. This further expansion of the event rather reflects the growing interest on part of the population as well as the goodwill of our partners and institutional supporters, who take part in this exciting project.
For ten days 250 musicians from 16 nations will take jazz sounds to cities and villages, to mountain plains, refuges, castles and wineries, creating a special festival atmosphere across the country. Such a wide range is not only unique for SouthTyrol but also a rare phenomenon among jazz festivals in general. In order to reach an even larger audience many of the concerts will again be free of charge.
The Festival programme will once again be characterised by many different performances featuring international stars as well as many young talents. This year’s edition will also give a stage to numerous local musicians who were commissioned with major projects in the framework of the festival. Even young future stars – the students of the South Tyrolean music schools - will get a chance to show their talent on stage.
I am convinced that this festival has something in store for everyone who seeks top quality music or enchanting locations. Therefore I wish all visitors from South Tyrol and abroad ten enjoyable festival days.
