#37 - Anni Elif - Edith

Nordic contemporary jazz mixed with poetry: "Scandinavian modernism was launched by Edith Södergran, one of the world's greatest poets. In just a few years, she was able to create the most important lyrical work, that the North possesses today", writes Peter Hamm in 1957 in an epilogue to the an anthology of young Swedish poetry. In 2017, the singer Anni Elif Egecioglu, who lives in Helsinki and has Swedish-Turkish roots, recorded her CD "Edith" with three top musicians of Scandinavian jazz and dedicated it to this important poetess. Edith Södergran's lyrics are set to music so carefully, that the great respect for these poems can be heard. "Edith" was nominated for the Finnish music award "Emma" in the category "Best Jazz Album".
