#40 - DRIVE!

33-year-old pianist Giovanni Guidi is one of Italy's most distinguished jazz musicians. His recordings "Ida Lupino" (2016, with Gianluca Petrella, Louis Sclavis and Gerald Cleaver), "This is the Day" (2015) and "City of Broken Dreams" (2013) for the Munich ECM label, confirm his outstanding position. By the way: in the critics' poll of "Musica Jazz" magazine, "Ida Lupino" was voted best Italian album of the year. In this new formation, Guidi replaces the piano with an electro-acoustic Fender Rhodes. His partners are bassist Joe Rehmer, born in Chicago and living in Italy, and drummer Federico Scettri, born in Rome. This trio embarks on a improvisation adventure journey – and those travelling with them will not regret.
