The man's got a lot on his mind: In December 2017, Finnish drummer Olavi Louhivuori launched his "Immediate Music" project, which envisages five albums with different instrumentations exploring the limits of musical freedom. The first CD ("Immediate-Music 1") containing experimental music for open-minded listeners was recorded with keyboard player Teemu Korpipää and Jouhikko-player Pekko Käppi. Jouhikko is a Finno-Karelian lyre played with a bow. This more than a thousand year old instrument had almost been forgotten in 20th century Finland, because of the Kantele being regarded as the national instrument. Pekko Käppi, who also plays rock and blues on his lyre, is one of the Jouhikko renascence pioneers.
