Project Jazz & Architecture

The Süddeutsche Zeitung described his series of five CDs, ‘Vogelperspektive’, as an “excellent example giving us a glimpse into the universal side of music once known as jazz”. However, it’s difficult to pigeonhole this musician: producer and festival organiser Alfred Vogel comes from the Vorarlberg region and is one of the most experimental drummers on the Austrian jazz scene. He rides into the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige on the wave of a unique concert held a good ten years as part of an astounding trio. Broger, Bär (who play new folk music in the HMBC quintet), and Vogel rattle and clang away. For a moment you may be forgiven for believing you had sauntered into the French Quarter of New Orleans rather than Bolzano.
