Project Art Meets Jazz

Christoph Irniger Pilgrim

The Swiss band was founded in 2010 and after changing the band members various times, it has become one of the most exciting ensembles on the young European jazz scene. The quintet from Zurich, founded by tenor and saxophonist Christoph Irniger, plays music which is difficult to categorise. Armed with a healthy portion of self-awareness and an adventurous spirit, the quintet goes on a musical journey with no guide, travel insurance or return plane ticket. The soundtrack sways between an enigmatic self-reflection and wild eruptions where the musicians create their very own sound. In 2014 the band released their second album, ‘Italian Circus Story’, which followed their first, ‘Mt. Tongario’ (2011).
