A quartet made up of melodious trumpets, violins, trombones, and saxophones. The ‘classic’ rhythm normally relying on the bass and drums isn’t what you’ll find here. The name of the quartet doesn’t only stand for their membership in the very active Crossroads Improring collective, it also symbolises free improvisation, which underscores the spontaneous-anarchic traits of the group’s performance. The latter is a very important component for San Francisco-born Charles Ferris, who decided to remain in Naples following his Fulbright Bursary in 2006. Ferris combines electro sounds, jazz classics, oriental music, rock and, of course, contemporary improvisation techniques.
