The pianist, born in 1990 in Salzburg and now based in Berlin, doesn’t adhere to the “tenets of the jazz establishment, nor to the rules of the postmodern scene”, according to the Jazzthing magazine. The Musical Conservatory in Brucken accepted him at the age of 15 for the jazz piano course. In other words: Elias Stemeseder has always been a rising star and a musical savant, which is also reflected by the high esteem in which he’s held by avant-garde drummer Jim Black. He listened to Stemeseder during a jazz workshop in Salzburg when the student was only 16. In the following years, Elias Stemeseder and Jim Black continued to perform together and finally founded a trio with Thomas Morgan (b). Since then, they have released two CDs (‘Somatic’ in 2011, and ‘Actuality’ in 2014).
