Maja Osojnik Solo - Let Them Grow

This singer counts as one of the ‘young, wild things’ from the Austrian scene. Osojnik comes from Kranj, in Slovenia, but has been living in Vienna since 1995 and makes avant-garde chamber music which weaves its way across all genres, from pure noise to Renaissance music, jazz to punk and ends with abstract improvisations. When her voice wefts across electric sounds and samples, she creates fascinating soundscapes. She says that, ‘I don’t strive to achieve everything I like. I love sopranos but I could never be one. I idolise P.J.Harvey, Björk, and Sarah Vaughan when it comes to pop and jazz. But you’ve got to find your own path.’ If you were to listen to her newest CD, ‘Let them Grow’, you’d know she’s finally found it.
