The Facebook page of the trio led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Pietro Santangelo says, ‘Welcome to the page of the worst saxophonist on the planet and two suspicious stooges‘. You’ve got to hand it to them: you either have a sense of humour or you haven’t. They certainly do. The three Neapolitan musicians know each other very well: after all, they’ve been playing together for years in the Slivovitz band and the Crossroads Improring collective. PS3 is a chamber music formation that stands out for its unique aim: its goal is to perform traditional Eastern European and Mediterranean music with the Afro-American roots of jazz. Their repertoire includes tracks by John Zorn, John Coltrane, Yusef Lateef or Charles Lloy, and of course original music by Slivovitz and Pietro Santangelo.
